Rosemarie Wandel Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rosemarie Wandel (née Habermann) passed away peacefully on December 7th surrounded by family. Born in Burgdorf, Germany in 1925 to parents Otto Habermann and Marie Glowalla, Rosemarie moved to Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1949 with Husband Gerhard Wandel and their young son, Harald. The family lived in Brazil for 10 years, welcoming second son Rolf before immigrating to Mamaroneck, New York in 1959. Rosemarie, renowned for her cooking, worked as a caterer in New York while raising her two sons. In her retirement, she and Gerhard took camper van trips, visiting each of the lower 48 states as well as Alaska, her favorite. She retired to Weeki Wachee, Florida in 1985 where she lived out what she remembered as the best years of her life. As a Floridian, she became an avid golfer and was an active member of The Heather Golf and Country Club for many years. Even as she faced cancer in her final years of life, she was always surrounded by family and never lost her trademark witticisms or ability to make her grandchildren smile. She is predeceased by sister Ursula Kreutz and husband Gerhard Wandel and is survived by sons Harald (Anke) and Rolf (Jane), nephew Uwe Eisenhuth, and grandchildren Meghan, Michael, and Becky Wandel.
