Rolando Plasencia

Rolando Plasencia, 87, passed away peacefully in his home after a long battle with illness on a farm he loved in Odessa, FL. He was surrounded by his wife, Ines, daughters Lourdes and Elizabeth, grandchildren Ciji and Cory, and great family friends Ileana and Jorgelina Diaz. Rolando, son of Bonifacio Plasencia and Blanca Rosa Sanchez was born on June 11, 1934 in ____, Cuba. He served as a Sergeant in the armed forces under Batista before immigrating to the United States, where he was a business owner in Chicago, IL. After he retired, he moved to a farm in Odessa, FL, and spent the last 20 years riding around on his tractor and tinkering on his farm. He was a happy man with a great sense of humor, and he loved his wife dearly. Rolando, also known as Pipo to those closest to him, is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ines Plasencia; his four daughters: Mercedes Plasencia, Teresita de Jesus Plasencia, Lourdes Olivia Plasencia, and Elizabeth Plasencia; four grandchildren: Jesenia Mercedes Fernandez, Ciji Victoria Castro, Joanne Elizabeth Fernandez, and Cory Rolando Francisco Pagàn, and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Octavio Daniel Plasencia and Jesus Samuel Plasencia, his niece and nephews: Mitchell Plasencia, Andy Plasencia, Jesus Plasencia, Sally Gomez, Daniel Plasencia, and many more nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. There will be a graveside service at Curlew Hills Memorial Gardens on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 11 a.m.
