Robert Moonie Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

My dearest husband Robert Moonie, 69, passed away on June 21, 2022 after an 11 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born in High Blantyre, Glasgow, Scotland on Dec. 26, 1952. He is survived by his loving wife of 30+ years, Christiane, and his younger sister Anne and husband Bruce who live in England along with his niece Robyn. Robert was not one to sit still. He had many varied jobs while he was growing up in the U.K. including mailman, garbage collector, coal deliverer, bartender, silver service waiter. He spent 6 months in Israel on a kibbutz where he fell out of an orange tree and severely broke his left arm. It did not mend properly in Israel so it broke again upon his return to the UK. Robert also loved talking about his ice cream vendor days in the U.S., courtesy of BUNAC (British Universities North America Club) He had two such stints in California and in Arizona in his early twenties. Robert completed his Masters Degree in Business at Thames Polytechnic in London, England. He then embarked on a long career in computer consulting. He even had his own consulting company for a few years. Robert owned a flat in London where he lived for a bit before moving to New York for work. Robert and Christiane met in New York City in 1987 and it was truly love at first sight. In the early 90's, they moved to Miami FL and a few years later to Tampa, FL. They had many adventures together all over the world. Robert visited more than 60 countries through business and vacations. He absolutely loved to travel. He achieved the 2 million miles traveled mark with an airline. Camping was another thing he really enjoyed. He and Christiane went on many camping trips in Florida in their 19ft travel trailer. Robert was very passionate about soccer, playing in his younger years and avidly watching the English Premier League on TV any chance he could get. In the past 10 years, Robert loved to go on cruises, achieving Diamond level in January 2022. In addition to cruising around the Caribbean, other destinations were Alaska, Norway, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand. I am going to miss my wonderful husband very much. We had a great and fun life together for 35 years that I will always treasure. There will be a Celebration of Robert's life at a later date.
