CPT. Richard E. Hinds Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard E. Hinds, also known as Dick Hinds, 85, of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away on January 20, 2022. Dick was born June 29, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lois Hinds, his brother, Jack Gilman Hinds and his previous wife, Louann Hinds. Dick grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Immediately upon graduation, he went to work for Potomac Energy Power Company (PEPCO). He joined the United States Army in 1958 and served several years in Germany, achieving the rank of Captain, before leaving the service and returning to work at PEPCO in Washington, DC. In 1973, Dick moved his family to Miami, Florida to work for Florida Power and Light. After retiring from FPL, Dick moved to Clearwater, Florida and went to work for Energy Insurance Mutual. Dick was well loved by his many friends and family. He was an avid stamp collector and was well respected in the stamp collection community. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Hinds and his five children: Margaret Pina (Bruce), Robert Hinds, Nancy Fountain (Keith), Fred Hinds (Monique), and Paul Hinds (Tiffani). He also has three bonus daughters, Barb, Colleen & Kathy. Dick was blessed with several grandchildren: Shannon, Lauren, Bradley, Matthew, Tommy, Brittani, Jessica, Leah, Katie, Hunter, Jonathan, Christopher and Benjamin. He also has six great grandchildren and one on the way. Dick Hinds will be cremated. A service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 29 at St. Marks Village in Palm Harbor, Florida.
