Mary Anne Burns

January 7, 1954 - February 4, 2021

Mary Anne Saegaert Burns, of Odessa, Florida died at home on _February 4th 2021 after a courageous journey through cancer which never overcame her. She was born in Manchester CT in 1954, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Madeline Miller Saegaert. She attended schools in Vernon and Manchester, CT. She and her sons moved to Florida in 1981, where she worked as an Insurance adjustor for Liberty Mutual and cared for her parents until their death in 2005. She married Gerald Burns and settled at Turtleback Farm, Odessa, where she opened a successful equestrian boarding and training facility for Dressage. Mary Anne competed on her beloved warmbloods, earning bronze and silver medals in the sport, giving all the credit to her trainer William, and her talented horses. Besides her parents, Mary Anne was predeceased by her cherished brother Gil “Pat” Saegaert. She is survived by her husband Jerry, her brothers and their wives Norbert and Julia of Ashford, CT and Marc and Ellen of West Hartford, and her sister, Mother Marie Julie of Baltic, CT. She also leaves her devoted sons and their wives, Todd and Deann of Pinellas, John and Lorraine of Toronto, Canada, and Michael and his dear friend, Kristy, of Lovell, Wyoming, all of whom walked with her every step of the way these last months, and her greatly-loved grandchildren Kanton, Kooper, Jessica, Jamie, Maisie and Maddy and several step daughters and step grandchildren. She was blessed by the friendship of her faithful ‘Girls at the Barn’ and will be sorely missed by her incredible friends who supported her so lovingly during her last illness. Her family is profoundly grateful to all who have cared for and about her, including Life Path Hospice. Curlew Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
