Kaylyn Bayly Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Kaylyn Bayly (53) passed away on June 13, 2022, in Palm Harbor, Florida, from the complications of frontotemporal dementia. Born on June 25, 1968, in Troy, New York, to Barry and Catherine Bayly, Kaylyn lived in Connecticut before moving to Florida in 1971. Kaylyn attended Bay Vista Elementary and Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School, and graduated from Lakewood High School in 1986. Kaylyn graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina. Lettering in softball, volleyball, and soccer, Kaylyn is remembered as one of the best all-around athletes in school history. With the third highest batting average in the nation (Division II), Kaylyn was selected to attend the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics/Pan Am tryout camp in 1991. In 2014, she was inducted into the Lenoir-Rhyne University Athletic Hall of Fame. A 26-year educator, Kaylyn taught at 16th Street Middle School, St. Petersburg Challenge Elementary, began her coaching career at Lakewood High School in 1991, and finished her career at Countryside High School where she taught and coached for 20 years. Kaylyn was selected as Coach of the Year in volleyball, flag football, and softball more times than we can count. In 2017, Kaylyn won the Florida Sport Professional of the Year/Society of Health and Physical Educators award, and in 2018 the National Sport Professional of the Year award. Kaylyn travelled the country to support her beloved Tampa Buccaneers and Florida State University Seminoles football and softball teams. With a love for all sports, Kaylyn was a 20+-year season ticket holder for both the Bucs and the Seminoles. Visitation will be on Friday, June 24, from 1 - 2 p.m. at St. Jude Cathedral, 5815 5th Ave N, St. Petersburg, Florida 33710. Kaylyn is survived by her lifetime partner and wife Elizabeth Collins; Elizabeth’s brother William “Bill” (Brenda) Collins; nephews Jeff (Carol) Collins, Kevin (Cindy) Collins; Liz’s three great nieces and two great nephews; Kaylyn’s siblings, Barry (Denise) Bayly, Chris (Kerrie) Bayly, Matthew (Patricia) Bayly, and James (Julie) Bayly; five nieces, four nephews, four great nieces and two great nephews; and longtime friend Dexter Rogers. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Tim Bayly and David Bayly; and sister Melanie Thompson.
