John "Jack" Sweeney Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John ‘Jack’ Edward Sweeney was born to parents, Alma and Don Sweeney, and big sister Sandra, on July 24, 1940. He grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois and spent summers fishing, swimming, and boating at his grandparents’ cottage in Traverse City, Michigan. He then moved and attended high school in East Lansing. He spent two years in the Army Honor Guard and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Industrial Design. He later received his master’s degree from Wayne State University. Jack was married to Diane Keevil on June 15, 1963 and worked for Chrysler in Detroit. After relocating to Clearwater, Florida in 1979, Jack enjoyed boating every weekend. Jack owned his own advertising specialties company, Suncoast Promotions, and after retiring to Sarasota, went on to careers in real estate and boat sales. Jack loved golf, watching Lightning hockey, and spending time with his wife and pups. Jack passed away July 23, 2022, a day before his 82nd birthday. He is survived by his wife, Diane Sweeney, daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Mark Freeman, and three grandkids, Emma, Ryan, and Travis Freeman.
