Joan Schneider Turner November 9, 1931 – January 21, 2022 Obituary Joan Schneider Turner left us and passed into eternity joining with the Lord Jesus Christ on January 21, 2022 at 2:35 A.M. She was born on November 9, 1931 in Hulmeville, PA, the daughter of the late William and Francis Schneider. In February 1952, she married her cherished husband Harold H. Turner. She is survived by her sister Barbara Atkinson and husband Paul; her sons Bruce Turner and wife Rosemarie; Dean H. Turner and wife Dana; and is joined in heaven with her son Michael Turner. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lanning Turner and wife Monica; Brent Turner and wife Sarah; Jeannette Leto and husband Jason; Rachel Turner; Keith and Eric Turner; Michael Turner and wife Karissa and Ellie Turner. She also is survived by her great grandchildren, Lily, James, Caleb, Mika, and Paul Turner; Alisia Hernandez and husband Lucas; Jared, Angelina, Gianna Leto along with great great grandson Levi Hernandez. She predeceased her siblings, Wayne; William (Billy) and Jean. Joan loved her career as an educator of children both at her elementary school and in the family. She began teaching while in college in Trenton, NJ before moving to Clearwater, FL and teaching in the classroom for 26 years for Pinellas County. Upon completing her Master’s degree in Education that specialized in helping young children to read, the school board employed her skill throughout the entire county. As a devoted Grandmother, Joan spent much of her time with her grandchildren baking cakes, cookies and making Christmas candy. Upon her retirement from teaching in 1996, Joan enjoyed golf, world travel, ocean cruises and other numerous activities within Highland Lakes. She also served on the Highland Lakes Woman’s Golf League Committee for several years, while maintaining close contact with her friends and colleagues at both her church and retired teachers. A memorial service will be held at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens in Palm Harbor, FL on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
