December 3, 1960 - April 8, 2021
Jo-Ann Ruth Broadbent age 60 of Palm Harbor, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on April 8th following a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born in Concord Massachusetts on December 3 rd , 1960, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth (Morand) Broadbent. Jo-Ann was raised in Danvers MA and graduated from Danvers High School in 1978. After High School, she attended Stetson University in Deland Florida. She was a valued employee of Raymond James Financial for 25 years and just recently retired. Jo-Ann loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, music, traveling and visiting her favorite mouse in Orlando. She had a strong faith in God and for years was a lay reader at her church. Jo-Ann was kind, caring, giving, had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She never met anyone that she didn’t like and had such a beautiful soul. She was loved by all that knew her and lived her life always putting others before herself. When her father passed, she took in her elderly mother and dedicated herself to providing her a loving home and catered to all her needs until her mother’s passing ten years later. Back in 2018, she read an article in the news about a local group of high school students working down in the Florida Keys helping hurricane victims. While in Miami, they had their backpacks containing their bibles and other personal items stolen from their van. Jo-Ann immediately went into action and anonymously replaced all of their backpacks and placed new bibles in each of them. She was a dedicated volunteer for the Soldiers’ Angels organization providing the troops deployed overseas with packages filled with items of aid, comfort and of course love. She had such an impact on her soldiers, they would often look her up following their deployment to give their heartfelt thanks. She was our angel on earth, will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Jo-Ann was the beloved sister of Joe Broadbent and his wife Tammy of New Port Richey FL, John Grant and his wife Susan of Amesbury MA, Carol Rougvie and her husband Bob of West Lebanon NH, and Susan Porter and her husband Bob of Billerica MA. Jo-Ann was predeceased by her sister Carrie Armand of Danvers MA. She was the beloved aunt of Cindy Gibbs and her husband Steve of Topsfield MA, Derek Armand of Danvers MA, Troy Broadbent of New Port Richey FL, Tyler Broadbent of Boca Raton FL, Lindsay Greenberg, her husband Darren and their two children Zachary and Emma of Amesbury MA, Michael Pescuma and his wife Erika Gold of Manchester NH, Carolyn Brennan, her husband Frank and their two children Joseph and Isabel of Norwich VT, Gwendolyn Porter of Billerica MA, Scott Higgins, his wife Michelle and their son Griffin of Longmount CO and Stephen Higgins of Brooklyn NY. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 16th 2021 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Curlew Hills Funeral Home (1750 Curlew Rd, Palm Harbor, FL 34683). A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 16th 2021 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
