David Paul Paetzold

June 12, 1950 - December 10, 2020

David Paul Paetzold, age 70, of Trinity, Florida passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020. David was the son of Kenneth and Dolors (Jaeger) Paetzold born on June 12, 1950 in Harper, Iowa. As the son of a natural gas pipeline superintendent, David moved frequently during his youth, but spent the majority of those years in the Midwest. This is where he developed his strong work ethic which he carried throughout his life. He moved to WI in 1966, graduating from Milton Union High School in 1968 and Milton College in 1972. David was an outstanding athlete, excelling in football and baseball. In 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Haugom. After graduating college, David entered the field of banking which was his profession for 45 years. He began his career at First National Bank in Janesville, WI in the agriculture and real estate departments. At the age of 29, he became the bank president and CEO of United Bank of Rockford, Rockford, IL. In 1982, he joined Barnett Bank and moved his family to FL where he spent most of his adult life. He worked for numerous banks but had a passion for leading community banks out of debt and turning them into profitable enterprises. David retired in 2013 from Central Bank,Tampa, FL. David enjoyed boating, fishing, vacationing with friends, and hunting. He was strong in faith and loved his family with intense conviction. His pride and joys were his four grandchildren. They will fondly remember riding in Grandpa's Corvette, the pirate chest he lovingly filled with chocolate gold coins and dollar bills before each visit, and the extra-large candy dish overflowing with their favorite treats. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ruth Ann, daughter Jennifer (Dennis) Luettich, son Chad (Lisa) Paetzold; grandchildren Charles Luettich, Scarlett Luettich, Carson Paetzold, and Austin Paetzold; and brothers John Paetzold (Kimber), Joseph Paetzold (Nancy), and Richard Paetzold (Denise). He is further survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Hilda Paetzold, Tom and Karen Vick and Hal and Debbie Haugom; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Paetzold, mother Dolors Paetzold, and eldest brother, James Paetzold. A celebration of his life will be held in the new year. Those who knew David well will remember his generosity, loyalty and kindness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
