Virginia M. (Artt) Martin passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Banner Boswell Hospital, Sun City, AZ. She was 90 years old. Virginia was born on January 24, 1920 to Ernest Artt and Rose Barbara (Schorn) Artt. A graduate of Grosse Point High School Class of 1937, Grosse Pointe, MI, Virginia later married Charles (Charlie) Martin from of Irvington, NY in 1946. They resided in Milford, MI for 37 years where they raised 3 children. She and Charles traveled the world extensively prior to her retirement from J.L. Hudson of MI and moved to New Port Richey, FL in 1983. In 2005, Virginia relocated to Peoria, AZ and resided at the Desert Winds Independent Retirement Living to be close to family. Virginia was a woman who loved her family and an avid reader with a quest for learning. She was a modern day woman before her time and loved the challenges of a spirited conversation. Through her love of history, she was able to accomplish her dream to travel the world. Her travels included: China, Peru, Guatemala, Brazil, Mexico, Jerusalem, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Europe and most of the United States.
Virginia is survived by her three loving children, Thomas Martin (Sandra) of White Lake, MI , Eilene Lohmeier (Kevin) of Shelby Twp, MI and Charlene Roti (Michael) of Anthem, AZ; proud grandmother of Jason Martin, Christopher Martin (Angie), David Martin, Matthew Lohmeier, Erin Schroeder (Richard), Michael Lohmeier, Bryan Roti (Patricia) and Jeremy Roti; and three great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Rosemary (Gerry) Kruse. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Charles Martin in 1995 and two siblings, Ernest Artt in 2009 and Ellen Artt in 2008. Curlew Hills Memorial Gardens is assisting the family with arrangements. Final internment will be at the Bay Pines National Cemetery in Bay Pines, FL next to Charles.
